WHAT WILL LAME DUCK DEMS DO?

Obama has said he'd rather be a "really good" one-term president than a mediocre two-term president. "Really good" to him means "really bad" for the country as a whole. If Congress rams through outrageous legislation between the time they get voted out and the time they actually leave office, he'll sign it.

# 2. 7/12/10 6:30 AM by OldVietVet - Rochester, NY
thumbsup.gif If the Democrats lose the November elections, it seems unlikely that they will be able to cut their losses by ramming through legislation. And that will be the legacy of the health care "plan",and the Gulf Oil disaster as well. The party has been unable thus far to exploit this environmental mess for their own gain.It has instead highlighted the Partys' incompetence, more so than the health care debate. They will be further weakened as lame ducks.Democrat rank and file are balking at Obamas high handed and half baked response to the oil mess, and its likely to get worse for him as well.We had better hope that the Republicans field worthy candidates as alternatives to the Democratic lame brains, so that the Democrats actually become lame ducks.

# 3. 7/12/10 6:32 AM by hunter - e. bethany, ny
Wouldn't 2010 tame ducks be better suited for a Battle of the political Bulge in 2012.

# 4. 7/12/10 6:40 AM
I predict they'll do it out of spite and belief that they know better, and Obama will not veto any of it. To enact this crap is why he's there.

# 5. 7/12/10 7:08 AM by Mario - Brockport
The Campaigner-In-Chief has already said he is willing to be a one term president if that means he has foisted his agenda on the American people.

He has no clue how to lead but he does know what his radical past has taught him.

I'm looking forward to November, but I have a bad feeling. The USA seems to enforce strict immigration laws against western Europeans with education and skills, while encouraging immigration of people, most without education or skills, (and often Muslim), from third world countries. This suicidal policy, coupled with the unwillingness to defend the southern border from invasion will change our demographics forever.

Look for a lame duck amnesty program that will increase Democrat voter base by 20 - 25 million, and BHO gets re-elected in 2012. The socialists will easily re-take the congress at the same time. Sure, we will have a couple years where Rinos will bumble about looking for their balls, and then the country will be lost. If you raised your children to be productive, honest and hard working, you made them the new slaves.

You smug well-to-do liberals beware. They're going to come for your stuff too.

# 47. 7/9/10 12:01 PM by Masked Marvel - Parts Unknown "To all you Salt Lake City "Bring back Bob" efforts, let me clue you in on what works. Money talks ... your pleadings do not. Contact sponsors/advertisers of the station and tell them you will not buy from them until Bob Lonsberry is back ... then don't buy ... this is how it really works ... enough calls the advertisers will start advertising on another station ... Same thing happened in Rochester, after losing well over $1 million in advertising revenues with Bob gone; the owners had a different view of events and the folding to the hypocritical Ministers and Mayor of Rochester. I imagine the margins on advertising is very high like 90% .... When the big shots start getting hit in the cash flow somehow they find the right decision. Sad but true."

Dear Masked: I agree. Okay people let's contact the KNRS advertisers. Don't just stop using their product, but send a letter, too, so they know exactly what the deal is. Since I have been scanning the other talk station here I have discovered that many of the KNRS advertisers advertise on the other talk radio stations, as well, so the letter is essential. Go to the "Bring Back Bob Lonsberry" site where a list of advertisers has been started. Keep up the spirit and lets get Bob and Lee back. Sherry

What would happen if the Dems don't lose as many seats as you seem convinced they are going to? Will your head explode? Count your chickens now if you like.

# 10. 7/12/10 8:28 AM by Dominic - Spencerport, NY
To your comment: 'If he wants to be truly presidential, he will need to honor the people’s will, not his own ambitions.'

Agree that Mr. Obama would need to do this. But, I've never been to Las Vegas or Atlantic City. I don't watch those Poker shows on TV either. But I do know that betting on Mr. Obama to honor the people's will instead of his ambitions would be a very bad bet.

I'm optimistic about the adults getting back in charge of the House and Senate. My only fear is that the GOP will too closely resemble those they've replaced. We need strong conservatives with a spine. Glad we have a TEA Party to finally put some heat on the GOP and help the conservative cause.

# 11. 7/12/10 8:36 AM
Now don't you or your fans go worrying your head about all this, Bob. The American people are not going to give you crazy Republicans back power after the avalanche of disaster YOUR party started in our economy.

Love how you Republicans start the avalanche and scream at Obama to stop the avalanche when it's half way down the mountain.

Before the election the rotten picture of the GOP will be painted by the GOP itself as the Democrats simply run clips of important Republicans saying outrageously foolish things.

The chief amongst them will be Joe Barton, who will be in charge of Americas ENERGY policies if the GOP tales control of the House. Barton APOLOGIZED to BP.

The man who would become Speaker of the House. John Boehner, compared the financial collapse to "an ant". Oh, America will howl in laughter at that one.

How about the appointed leader of the RNC saying the Afghanistan war is not a GOP war. Rudy Giuliani saying there were no terrorist attacks on America under Bush. (Ahem, 9/11).

How about Rush Limbaugh saying Obama is doing all this damage to America as payback for slavery. AND LIMBAUGH IS THE DEFACTO LEADER OF THE GOP.

Good luck with that lame duck Congress idea, Bob. Don't hurt your brain worrying about it.

RE: Poll and column...

What would happen if the American public voted powerfully against the Democratic agenda in November, and then the Democrats crammed it through as lame ducks in December?

The same thing I did yesterday.

Just the other day in Charlotte, a family of 4 from California approached me and asked, excuse me, Why is the water so Green? Hmmm, well it has to do with algae, and its been a problem since I was 10, but now I'm 46. I then said, the city government could have introduced a gaming casino, but they are scared that it might create more crime and then we would have to HIRE more police officers, etc. Furthermore, they probably would have the ability to buy a lake. So, I suggested you might want to buy a condo at medley centre, or perhaps dine at a world renown 5 star restaurant, but I said your gonna have to wait until we are struck with a meteorite, and that could happen in another 30 years. Oh yeah, hey Abbots, the same cone I had years ago, still tastes the same, however, talk about inflation.

Editor's Note: you should have leaned over, made sure no one could hear you, and whispered in their ear, "canandaigua. go to canandaigua."

# 14. 7/12/10 9:07 AM by Kevin
To #11..You have the learned the spin from the Obama administration well..Take things completely out of context, and when all else fails 'Blame Bush'!. Where's your name sweetie?? I'd hide to come November if I were you.

# 15. 7/12/10 9:21 AM
thumbsdown.gif Oh, woe is me!!!!

Better not take the chance -- try to impeach Obama now! After all, he's not even American, right?

Nothing but the same old echo chamber crap.

I can't wait for November, just so I can be done with the same old "'They're' trying to take over 'OUR' country" sedition you and your ilk peddle.

# 16. 7/12/10 9:22 AM by RS - Rochester, NY
To #14...you are either in a severe state of denial, or you've been living under a rock somewhere, but all the recent stupid quotes mentioned by #11, attributed to Republicans, are all TRUE...and about whether one puts one's name at the top of their response, if it is such a big deal to you, why didn't you put your WHOLE name at the top of YOUR response????? Oh, the hypocrisy.....

# 17. 7/12/10 9:29 AM by Ryan - Victor,NY
#11 said "The American people are not going to give you crazy Republicans back power after the avalanche of disaster YOUR party started in our economy."

This whole thing started when the subprime mortgage market collapsed. The first subprime loan was invented in the early 90's. This means we had years of both parties holding power where nobody did anything to curtail this.

The truth is the building blocks for the current recession started early during the last boom.

Dems have had their chance to fix it and since we only have two choices in this country I think it's time to let the otherside have a crack at it.

# 18. 7/12/10 9:37 AM by Shaun - Provo
Your column is very thought provoking today. I appreciate that. Now I am concerned about November...no matter how the election turns out. I hope violence will not be the result...but if it is, I would put money on it being started by the liberals, who are so anti-gun and anti-violence and anti-war. I say that only because that has been the M.O. of the liberals for a long time.

Who yells and screams about the NEED to kill "white crackers" and their babies?

Who tried to run a blockade to the Gaza strip...and filmed it, showing clear intent to provoke battle?

Who violently disrupts public meeting with a conservative leaning?

What government philosophy leads to mass graves?

I am not as eloquent as you Bob, but the writing is on the wall.

# 19. 7/12/10 9:39 AM by Dave - Penfield, NY
Bob,

Have you forgotten? FUBO inherited this mess.

Coincidentally, FUBO is the first president in US History that took charge when the economy was in trouble. Also the first to take charge when there were two faltering wars. And partisan politics. And budget constraints. Just ask him. He'll "be perfectly clear" ...

thumbsup.gif This last fourth of July was not the same for some reason, maybe just me, but I just can't feel good about how this country is going? We are polluting our waters, we are bowing down to countries with socialist and communist agendas, our morals are going into the toilet and we have a president who is linked to people who tear down our American way of life. I know that a lot of my California friends are disillusioned also. They are fed up with all the welfare going to illegals while they have work like crazy to afford their houses. I think Democrats and Republicans have to sit down and decide what is best for our country and come November, verbalize it. It doesn't matter what party you are from. Support leaders who will get us back on track and cut federal spending. I grew up with Ronald Reagan as president and his diplomacy with other nations and his stand up for America policies had us in a good place. Now our generation is in charge with a man at the helm who has no clue how to correct things, he shouts orders and puts liberals in place he thinks will come up with something and we are still suffering. All I hear about Michelle is how brave she is to go sleeveless. I am also sick to death of the liberal media making him into something he is not and not calling his policies out for what they are. I can't tell you how many times I sickened at Dan Rather putting Bush down and yet no one dares say anything about Obama. Had Bush let this oil spill go....can you imagine?????

thumbsup.gif The contest is not between Democrats and Republicans... It is between Progressives and Conservatives.

I think "Harry Carry Barry" Obama has been aiming to be a one term president all along because he is doing all he can to do his crap as fast as possible and heck with the second term. Quote: Obama has said he'd rather be a "really good" one-term president than a mediocre two-term president. "Really good" to him means "really bad" for the country as a whole." Follow up on your congressmen! and pray.

It's going to be an interesting fall.

have you heard how us district 29ers will be voting in November? I've heard that we'll vote twice on the same ballot for the Wash representative. One will be the special election to fill the gap for the remainder of the term (less than 2 months) and second will be for the regular elections.

how dumb is that?

# 26. 7/12/10 10:14 AM by Kevin
Mr. Dou'che #16..The Guilani comment about no terrorist attacks when GW was in office was the same kind of gaff as Obama(the Commander in Chief) refering to the Marine Corp as the Marine 'CORPSE'..I love the way you defend that bufoon in DC like 3rd graders. How do you justify your love affair with this guy? I'll tell you how, anyone who supports him is more than likely being supported by taxpayers. Seems you're one of the minions who wishes to be on the dole from the Government..Get your check this month yet?

# 27. 7/12/10 10:22 AM by Penny - Plano, TX
thumbsup.gif All GOP candidates need to begin immediately reminding voters that the Democrats have controlled both houses since 2006! It's easy to hang onto the two years of Obama's reign of tyranny and forget the four years culminating in the largest debt and socialistic shifts our country has ever seen.

We as voters need to yell 'four years of dem rule, spending, and deficits" from our home state mountaintops, too.

# 28. 7/12/10 10:26 AM by Ron
thumbsup.gif Very thankful now that the average Joe Union-guy is waking up to the realization that liberal policies don't work and are inconsistent with our values (at least the vast majority of Americans). The GOP had better come through this time and not be just liberal lite.

# 29. 7/12/10 11:16 AM by John - Salt Lake City
"Obama Democrats are not honorable"

A whole column to tell us that?

It will be very interesting to see what happens after the November elections, and none of it will be good. Of course, nothing good has happened since the November 2008 elections.

This is probably our last chance to save our country. If the Dems STEAL this election, it's all over. The economy will collapse, and there will be full scale rioting and insurrection as class warfare breaks our between the "entitlement" mobs and the "producer" class finally fed up with being raped. At a minimum "going Galt" and refusal to submit to confiscatory taxation will cause our Ponzi scheme government programs to implode.

Interesting times. I wish they were not.

# 30. 7/12/10 11:57 AM by Gappy - Quincy, IL
thumbsdown.gif Well, much can happen and it's only July but think on this! Karl Rove is literally cashing in on the Supreme Courts radical decision to allow unlimited corporate money in elections, Glen Beck is starting his own university (crying in public 101)and Newt Gingrich is campaigning for a former reality TV show star. Then there's the shrill and/or insane voices of the Tea Party/GOP in the form of Michelle Bachmann, the Tundra Tart and the ever so flexible (ahem)Sharron Angle. Even Ann Coulter (!!!) has swung from the far, far conservative view. I don't forget to add in the comic relief provided by Rand Paul when he states that "tea party activists are not right-wing lunatics and extremists". Wanna bet? If you have to pound on a podium to insist you're not a right-wing lunatic, then you probably are one. It's quite evident to the nations people who aren't crazy at any rate.

Bottom line......I'm not worried about the GOP OR the tea party gaining much ground come Nov. Thank god.

Another rat deserting the sinking ship. Rush Limbaugh is vetoing New York City taxes ? literally by selling his posh residence there.

The radio talk show king's 10-room condominium went under contract Thursday for about $11.5 million, reports The Wall Street Journal. Limbaugh purchased the property in 1994 for about $5 million, and his final asking price was $12.95 million.

The sale of the Fifth Avenue penthouse comes a year after Limbaugh began publicly complaining about the high taxes that wealthy New York residents must pay.

thumbsup.gif Comrade Lonsberry,

I must make a minor adjustment to a part of what you wrote....

"Here’s the background. It’s likely that the Democratic Party, after two years of Obama “change,” will be abandoned by the voters. It’s not disagreement, it’s anger. WORKING Americans don’t want what the Democrats have been selling."

The only ones who want what da Dems have been selling are those entitled with hand-outs, those illeagals hoping to become citizens, and those whose paycheck is derived from the Gub-dole (like the artsies, teachers and countless social program directors).

And I once thought Clinton was had and that it couldn't get any worse.....boy was I wrong.

Bob, another great column today! And as Glenn Beck and others pointed out today, some Blacks are now calling for the killings of Whites and their Babies. The head of the New Black Panther Party would not renounce the blacks who are making this statement, last night on Geraldo, Fox News! Is the current leadership trying to start a race war as promoted by Charley Manson 40 years ago?! God help us! Obama`s Attorney General Holder is covering for the crimes of the New Black Panther Party by throwing the Philadelphia case out of Court!! Looks to me like our Country needs an old time Christian Revival with lots of prayer!

# 37. 7/12/10 3:21 PM by JT - Rochester
Be careful what you hope for. If the right wins back the house it will be exposed. They have no idea how to turn this economy around. When they move from blocking everything to actually doing something the failure will lead to Obama's victory in 2012. John Boehner as Speaker is a funny thought.

# 38. 7/12/10 3:37 PM by Mr. J - SLC, UT
Still pushing the right-wing scream machine on full throttle? How about Glenn Beck starting his own university, and Karl Rove cashing in (literally) on the Supreme Court's radical decision allowing unlimited corporate money in elections, and Newt Gingrich campaigning for a former reality TV show star? Insane behavior on the right wing side that you ignore Bob and that's why you got fired.

Michael Savage The new Conservative Party-led government of Prime Minister David Cameron informed Michael Savage it will continue the ban on the top-rated talk-radio host's entry to the United Kingdom unless he repudiates statements made on his broadcasts that were deemed a threat to public security.

The U.K. Border Agency told Savage through a letter from the treasury solicitor's office that his "exclusion" from the U.K. that began last year under the Labour Party government of Gordon Brown will continue "in the absence of clear, convincing and public evidence" that he has "repudiated his previous statements."

Another ass*ole that we can't get rid of...

Bob Livingston on his website says that 111 or 114 democrats voted against Ron Paul's federal reserve transparancy bill yet he fails to mention the Republicans who also voted against it as there are 256 democrats in Congress. Not sure how they do these things but seems there needs to be some pulling the eyeballs back in our own sockets.

thumbsup.gif Editor's Note: you should have leaned over, made sure no one could hear you, and whispered in their ear, "canandaigua. go to canandaigua."

Good heavens NO! We have enough problems. We have a City council that's big issue was to place recycle bins all along Main Street next to the garbage cans. They won't deal with a huge volume of traffic and speed control. But dammit we will have recycling bins.

Anyway, back to your lame duck Congress and hopes for Republicans. Well I for one have been disappointed by our Republicrats for a while now. Our state cannot even get a decent Republican to run for govenor. And our Tea Party candidate got in trouble with the media (the same media who could not sing Spitzer's praises enough) for his racist e-mails.

Sharron Angle and Rand Paul are losing their leads. The Republican party is in sad sad shape.

thumbsdown.gif I think you are wrong, Bob. I think that the Republicans will fail to win a majority in either house. I expect for there to be massive voter fraud this November. I expect the Black Panthers to repeat their activities in Philadelphia on a national scale. Any city with a large population of blacks will see the Black Panthers preventing whites' access to poling sites. The local police agencies will refuse to act, claiming that it is a Federal matter. Plus I expect the Democratic Party to 'stuff' the ballot boxes in areas where they control the voting process.

# 46. 7/12/10 6:28 PM by Sissy femme boy - Fairport, New York
thumbsup.gif I suspect that after the Democrat (Statist/Counter culture) party suffers huge losses in November, they will be out for revenge. After they are beaten like red haired step children, you can count on them being the biggest sore losers ever seen. This is about a much as a certainty as the Yankees making a run at another World Series title. They will have no dignity or honor left after their scorched earth policy. I'm dreading that lame duck session Bobby boy.

# 47. 7/12/10 6:42 PM
thumbsup.gif Hey #33: I work for the government (State) and I can tell you for a fact that I and most of my coworkers DO NOT want what the Dems are selling and we'd like to see the unions GONE. Ain't gonna happen, though, because nitwits like Danny Donohue are in bed with the Dems.

Coincidentally, most of those who like the Dems and the unions are those who I doubt would be able to hold down the private sector equivalent of their jobs.

# 48. 7/12/10 7:16 PM by tw - rochester, ny
Don't count your chickens, Bob. There's quite a bit of work to be done before November, including the republicans getting their tea party crazies in line to support tickets that don't include birther lunatics and libertarians.
